Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday said that the BJP government in Gujarat has failed in the last 27 years to provide good education and infrastructure in government-run schools.

Sisodia, who is also the education minister of Delhi, along with a delegation of the Aam Admi Party visited a couple of government schools in Bhavnagar.

He said that his party decided to visit schools in Bhavnagar as Gujarat education minister Jitubhai Vaghani hails from the region. Two days ago, irritated by questions being raised over the quality of education in Gujarat, Vaghani had said that those who do not like the education system in Gujarat can go to some other states.

Sisodia said what the AAP could do in five years in Delhi the BJP has not been able to do in 27 years. “The situation was even worse in Delhi,” he said.

Sisodia alleged that during his visit he found that the schools did not have basic amenities like proper toilets. He claimed to have found cobwebs in schools as if the premises have not been used for years.

The AAP leader held that they were informed that Vaghani’s family owns a private school. It is ironical that the private school can be run properly but not the government school, he said.

He further remarked that the AAP is talking about education not because of politics but because of the fact that the future of India is dependent on the children.

He extended invitation to the Gujarat chief minister and the education minister to visit schools in Delhi.

He furtehr claimed that a team of BJP MPs, who were asked to visit schools in Delhi on Monday by the party, could not find a single fault with the schools.
