The Enforcement Directorate may have attached properties associated with him, but Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut appears to be in no mood to back down against the BJP.

Since the Enforcement Directorate action against him, Raut has targeted former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya over alleged corruption related to a fundraising drive to save the retired aircraft carrier Vikrant.

On Friday, Raut levelled an arguably more emotive charge: The BJP wanted to change the status of Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra.

Raut alleged a group of BJP leaders, businessmen and builders had hatched plans to convert Mumbai into a Union territory.

Lokmat Times reported Raut had claimed work was under way to raise funds for the move. Lokmat Times quoted Raut as saying Kirit Somaiya had made a “presentation” to the Centre on the move to make Mumbai a Union territory. He alleged the BJP wanted to “take away” the rights of Marathi people and bring Central government control over Mumbai.
