"People have chosen Mahayuti in the elections. The Mahayuti will win two-thirds of the seats. The BJP will bag more than 135 seats. Out of 27 seats in the Konkan region, the BJP was leading in nine seats, while the Shiv Sena was ahead in 10, the NCP in one, and the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Pawar-led NCP faction in one seat each, with others leading in four seats, the party reportedly claimed.

Counting of votes for the posts of president and members in 286 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Maharashtra is currently underway, with the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde) managing to earn early leads against the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi constituents. The poll battle became multi-dimensional, with the BJP-led Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) locking horns, interspersed with "friendly fights" among the alliances.

Here are the five latest updates for the people of Maharashtra as the counting progresses:

1. Nashik District: The results of the municipal council elections in Nashik district have been declared, and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has achieved the most success among the state's main players. Out of the total 11 mayoral posts in the district, Shinde Sena candidates emerged victorious in five, local media reports confirmed. Thus, it has become the largest party in Nashik district, while the BJP and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) have managed three seats each. Maha Vikas Aghadi members (Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT, and NCP-Sharad Pawar) did not secure a single mayoral post.

2. Palghar District: In Dahanu Nagar Parishad, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) managed to win eight seats against the BJP's tally of 18, according to a report by Sakal. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) managed to retain only one seat in the municipal council.

3. Wardha Municipality: The Congress party's mayoral candidate, Sudhir Pangul, managed to win against Nilesh Kite of the BJP. Nilesh is a close associate of Pankaj Rajesh Bhoyar, Wardha's Guardian Minister, which makes the victory even sweeter for the 'Grand Old Party', Sakal reported.

4. Jalgaon District: The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) sealed its superiority in the Bhadgaon Nagar Panchayat, securing a clear majority. Out of the 24 seats, 19 went to Shiv Sena (Shinde), and its candidate, Rekha Malche, was elected Mayor. The BJP won four of the remaining five seats, according to Marathi news reports.

5. Satana Municipal Council: In Satana, which is considered a BJP stronghold, Harshada Patil of the Shiv Sena (Shinde) was elected as the Mayor by a significant margin of 2,934 votes. In a major blow to Satana MLA Dilip Manglu Borse, former BJP mayor Sunil More and his wife were defeated.
