Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the biggest achievement of the government after the abrogation of Article 370 has been “the decisive control over terrorism” in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah who arrived in Jammu on Friday on a two-day visit said democracy has been strengthened at the grassroots level in the Union territory and an investment of Rs 33,000 crore has been secured.

“After abrogation of Article 370, the biggest achievement was that today we have a decisive control over terrorism,” Shah said while addressing the 83rd Raising Day of the CRPF in Jammu. The event is being held for the first time outside the national capital.

“Democracy is flourishing across J&K as we have Sarpanch and Panch in every village,’’ he said. “National Highways are being upgraded and all efforts are being taken to uplift J&K.”

Shah said every segment in the UT is making a record in achievements.

He said seven new medical colleges and two AIIMS will be functional in the UT very soon while all efforts are being made to provide a corruption-free government to the people.

Praising the CRPF, the home minister said its personnel play a great role in maintaining law and order and fighting terrorism in J&K, and eliminating Naxals. He said the CRPF continues to be the country's best police force.

“We will never forget the valour and courage of this force. The great sacrifices made by the CRPF men in line of duty will be written with golden letters and the families of the martyrs will never be left alone,” Shah said.

He further said that the Centre is committed to take CRPF to new heights and equip the force with latest gadgets and technology.

“I am sure the CRPF will emerge as the country's elite force soon,” he added.

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendera Modi, the dream and vision of Shyma Prassad Mukheri and Pandit Prem Nath Dogra—Eik Pradhan, Eik Vidhaan, Eik Nishan—stand fulfilled.

“Today, it’s the best tribute to the soul of Shama Prasad Mukherji that there is one flag, one Constitution and one leader across India,” he said.
