After pregnant women, J&K allows employees with disabilities to work from home

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has allowed employees with disabilities to work from home to ensure social distancing in in view of spike in Covid infection.

The relief comes after pregnant women were exempted from attending offices.

Earlier, the administration had ordered lockdown on weekends from 2pm on Friday to 6pm on Monday along with night curfew. "All the offices shall regulate the attendance of its employees in such a manner so as to ensure that appropriate social distancing norms are maintained. Employees with disabilities shall also be given the option to work from home,” ordered the Chief Secretary, who is also the chairman of the State Executive Committee of the J&K Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (DMRRR).

The guidelines were issued by the SEC after reviewing the Covid situation in the Union Territory. According to SEC all educational institutions including professional and technical colleges would adopt online medium.

The SEC also asked the Directorate of Health and Medical Education to ensure that elderly people and people with co-morbidities come forward for testing.

About public gatherings, it said assembly of not more than 25 people will be allowed.

Banquet halls in all the districts of J&K are permitted to allow gathering up to 25 vaccinated persons (with verifiable RT-PCR or RAT not older than 72 hours) or 25 per cent of the authorised capacity (whichever is less), preferably in open spaces. Cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, restaurants, clubs, gymnasiums and swimming pools are permitted to function at 25 per cent of the authorised capacity with due precautions such as CAB and adherence to SOP,” SEC ordered.

The SEC has said that incoming asymptomatic passengers travelling by air to J&K will not need to go for RT-PCR if they are carrying a valid and verifiable final certificate report of Covid-19.
