Dharmendra Pratap Singh, a 46-year-old who claims to be India's tallest man, joined the Samajwadi Party on Saturday.

Dharmendra Pratap Singh, a native of Pratapgarh, is 8ft 1in tall and about 11 cm short of the world record.

The Samajwadi Party revealed the news of his entry into the party on Facebook. “Expressing faith in the policies of Samajwadi Party and the leadership of Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, Mr. Dharmendra Pratap Singh of Pratapgarh took the membership of Samajwadi Party today. State President Shri Naresh Uttam Patel welcomed Mr. Dharmendra Pratap Singh in the party and expressed hope that his arrival will strengthen the Samajwadi Party...” the party post said.

Interestingly, Dharmendra Pratap Singh had campaigned in the past for various candidates during panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh.

News 18 reported “Dharmendra has two sisters and two brothers and has a postgraduate degree”.
