Even as Punjab and the rest of India reel under the shock over the lynching of a man at the Golden Temple on Saturday, a similar incident was reported from Kapurthala district on Sunday.
A man was caught by residents of Nijampur village around 4am from a gurdwara. Reports claimed he disrespected the Nishan Sahib (the Sikh flag).
“Despite the fact that a police team arrived and took the man into custody, Sikh groups insisted that he be questioned in front of them. After a fight with the police, the man was killed by the locals...” News 18 reported.

Gurdwara caretaker Amarjit Singh claimed in a Facebook Live that the suspect had said he had been “sent” from Delhi and a sister of his has also been “killed for sacrilege” at another place, The Times of India reported.
The incident came barely 12 hours after a man was lynched in the Golden Temple for allegedly trying to desecrate the Guru Granth Sahib.
