MHA extends COVID-19 restrictions in view of festive season

No mass gatherings will be allowed in districts with higher positivity rate

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday extended the COVID-19 restrictions across the country till November 30 in view of the festive season.

“In exercise of powers, conferred under Section 10 (2)(1) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, undersigned hereby directs that the Order of the Ministry of Home Affairs of even number, dated September 28, 2021, to ensure compliance with the Prompt & Effective containment measures for COVID-19, as conveyed vide Ministry of Health and Family Welfare dated September 21, 2021, will remain in force up to November 30, 2021,” read an MHA order.

No mass gatherings will be allowed in areas identified as containment zones and districts reporting more than five per cent positivity rate.

In districts where positivity rate is above five per cent, gatherings with prior permission and limited people may be allowed.

Meanwhile, India on Thursday recorded the highest recovery rate since March 2020 at 98.20 per cent. More than 17,000 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

The country’s vaccination coverage has exceeded 10404 crore with over 49 lakh doses being administered in the last 24 hours.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that the government will soon launch a mega vaccination campaign, ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ in poor performing districts aiming to achieve full vaccination by the end of this year.
