Six labourers have been trapped inside the chimney of a cement factory in Gujarat, on Thursday.

The incident took place at Saurashtra Cement factory located in Ranavav of Porbandar district.

Rescue operations are under way.

District collector Ashok Sharma told THE WEEK that six labourers have been trapped inside the chimney, and nobody is in a position to say what condition they might be in.

The chimney, he said, is 85 meter long and the labourers were painting it from inside.

Two teams of NDRF and Coast Guard are carrying out the rescue operations. Sharma said they are trying to operate in such a manner that the chimney does not fall on the workers.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had a telephonic conversation with the district collector on the relief and rescue operations.
