Iran has reportedly rebuffed Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, after he arrived in Tehran to convey what was described as US President Donald Trump’s “final warning” aimed at ending the ongoing war. According to media reports, Iran’s Security Council chief, Mohsen Rezaei, allegedly told Munir to “get back on his plane.”

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Munir conveyed a warning from Washington, urging Tehran to show greater flexibility in negotiations over its nuclear programme. The report claimed that he warned Iran of the possibility of a large-scale US attack on its nuclear facilities if it refused to meet Washington’s demands.

Iran, however, reportedly responded by insisting that the United States must accept its seven conditions before any progress could be made.

During his visit, Munir also held high-level discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. According to media reports, while Pezeshkian gave a warm welcome to the Pakistani military chief, Ghalibaf told the Pakistani military chief that “Iran has nothing new to say,” signalling Tehran’s reluctance to alter its position.

Pakistan has been playing a mediator between Tehran and Washington and Munir has been maintaining behind-the-scenes contacts with US and Iranian leaders.
