West Bengal extends lockdown till July 1 with certain relaxations

Shops in malls and complexes will be allowed to open between 11 am and 6pm

The West Bengal government, on Monday, extended the COVID-19 restrictions in the state till July 1 with certain relaxations.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the relaxed guidelines for the extended lockdown in view of the reduced COVID-19 numbers and declining test positivity rate.

On Sunday, the state reported 3,984 new cases and 84 deaths.

Announcing the new lockdown rules, the CM said, "All government offices will function with 25 per cent strength. Private and corporate offices will remain open from 10 am to 4 pm with not more than 25 per cent strength."

Shops in malls and complexes will be allowed to open between 11 am and 6pm with 50 per cent workforce, while all markets will remain open between 7am and 11am.

Sports activities in the state can resume, but without spectators.

Movement of private vehicles will continue to remain suspended, except for emergency. All education institutes and waterways in the state will remain closed as well.

Restaurants with bars can open between 12 noon and 8pm with 50 per cent seating capacity.

Movement of people will be restricted between 9pm and 5am.

While parks can remain open between 6am and 9am for morning walkers, only those who have been vaccinated will be allowed entry. Gyms, beauty parlours, salons, spas and cinema halls will continue to remain closed.

The restrictions on intra-state buses will continue.
