The 'toolkit' controversy took another turn in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, as Twitter flagged ex-chief minister Raman Singh's tweet sharing the alleged 'Congress toolkit', too, as 'manipulated media'.

On May 21, Twitter had flagged a post by BJP spokesman Sambit Patra sharing the same material, as 'manipulated media' too.

As Singh's tweet of May 18 got flagged on Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took a dig at him and apparently also the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Sharing a screenshot of Singh's tweet, Baghel said, “Twitter has called the alleged toolkit of Dr Raman Singh as manipulated media. Truth is never compromised. The lessons of Sangh that if a lie is spoken a thousand times it becomes a truth will not work anymore.”

Singh responded to Baghel's tweet saying that if Twitter has enough evidence on 'toolkit' case, why is it avoiding replying to the Delhi Police. “The Twitter officials vanished immediately after getting the (Delhi Police) notice. Now, will Rahul Gandhi and Bhupesh Baghel, who are advocating for them, tell where they are hiding?”

The alleged 'toolkit' issue took Chhattisgarh by storm soon after Singh tweeted on it on May 18. Attaching the document being circulated as an alleged 'Congress toolkit', Singh had said, “It is shameful to see the below the belt politics of Congress during this time of corona crisis. To defame the country in foreign media, Congress is conspiring to defame the Kumbh and by showing the photograph of burning bodies. Rather than fighting the pandemic, Congress is pitting people against each other.” The ex-CM also used the hashtag '#CongressToolkitexposed' with his tweet.

Akash Sharma, the state president of National Students' Union of India (NSUI)—the students wing of Congress—filed a complaint against Singh and Sambit Patra at the Civil Lines police station in Raipur, based upon which an FIR was registered on both the leaders.

The FIR said that fake documents were used to malign people and also to spread hate and misinformation in the society.

The Chhattisgarh BJP has launched an agitation against the FIR, with Raman Singh and other BJP leaders staging a dharna in front of Civil Lines police station in Raipur on Monday.
