Karnataka lockdown: What is allowed and what is not

State govt announces two-week lockdown from May 10 to 25

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, on Friday, announced a two-week lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 25, amid the continued surge is COVID-19 cases.

The total lockdown was necessitated after the janata curfew imposed in the state failed to contain the spread.

* During the period, all shops and commercial establishments will remain closed.

* Every day, the lockdown will be relaxed between 6 am and 10 am to facilitate the purchase of essential commodities—grocery, milk, vegetables, and meat.

* Restaurants will be open only for parcel services. 

* There will be no public transport,  auto or cab services.  The movement of goods vehicles will be allowed.  No private vehicles will be allowed to ply except for medical reasons. No inter-district travel will be allowed. 

* Road and building construction works with onsite workers will be permitted.

* Weddings with 50 guests will be allowed.

* All places of worship, and cinema halls to remain closed.

* Gyms,  parks,  schools and colleges to remain closed.

The CM also urged migrant workers not to travel back to their hometowns.
