A team of officials of the Income Tax Department on Monday reached the East Delhi residence of Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to record his statement in connection with a benami properties case.
The Hindu reported an official as stating, “We had sought his presence for recording his statement under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act. However, owing to the pandemic, a team has gone to his residence to facilitate the process."
The official clarified there was no search operation against Robert Vadra.

In recent years, Robert Vadra had been questioned extensively by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with money laundering allegations related to properties in London that were estimated to be worth 12 million pounds. Robert Vadra had got anticipatory bail in the London properties case in 2019. Vadra was also being probed over land deals in Rajasthan and Haryana.
Robert Vadra had dismissed the cases against him as being related to political rivalry.
