The official Twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party announced on Tuesday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the party's chief, was "under house arrest".

The AAP handle tweeted, "BJP's Delhi Police has put Hon'ble CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal under house arrest ever since he visited farmers at Singhu Border yesterday... No one has been permitted to leave or enter his residence."

However, the official Twitter handle of the DCP of North Delhi stated the claim of Kejriwal being put under house arrest was incorrect. The DCP tweeted, “This claim of CM Delhi being put on house arrest is incorrect. He exercises his right to free movement within the law of the land. A picture of the house entrance says it all.”

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj was quoted by ANI as saying “CM met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we'll serve them like 'sevadars' and support them. After he returned, Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of home ministry.”

"No one is allowed to go inside, he is not allowed to come out. MLAs, who had a meeting with CM yesterday, were beaten up by Police when they went to meet him. Workers were not allowed to meet him either. BJP leaders are being made to sit outside his residence," Bharadwaj said.

Kejriwal had visited the Singhu border to meet farmers protesting against the three contentious farm laws. AAP has already announced support for the Bharat bandh on Tuesday.

The AAP will organise a demonstration at ITO crossing in Delhi in support of the farmers.

On Monday, Kejriwal had said that all AAP workers across the country will support the nationwide strike and appealed to all citizens to support the farmers. Kejriwal had claimed his government had come under pressure from the Centre to authorise use of stadiums as temporary prisons to house the farmers.
