Former IAS officer-turned-activist Kannan Gopinathan, who is quite outspoken in his criticism of the BJP-led government at the Centre, compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Hitler.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Gopinathan said the 'difference between a Hitler and a Modi' is one is "Facist," while the other "fool."

Gopinathan, who had resigned from service to protest against the restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, sarcastically pointed out that when Hitler would receive a propaganda leaflet from Paul Joseph Goebbels, the Reich minister of propaganda of Nazi Germany, he would say "Good one. Well done," while when Modi receives a fake forward from the BJP's IT cell, he would say, "Really? Man, I had no idea! Thank you for sharing."

Responding to a follower who asked him if he is implying that the prime minister is uneducated, and said, "We do know a Kamaraj, an able administrator. But by calling Modi a fool, you take away his agency...like he doesn't know what he is doing," Gopinathan clarified that he does not imply that the prime minister is uneducated but that he is "gullible."

He continued his attack on the prime minister and the IT cell of the saffron party saying, "Our dear PM @narendramodi is not naked..He's just wearing transparent pants! You guys are so far behind in science. And more importantly, in fashion!”
