BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has had a steady record of offering 'advice' to the Narendra Modi government, via Twitter. Swamy has provided, often controversial, suggestions on issues ranging from countering the economic slowdown to resolving the Ayodhya dispute to dealing with Pakistan and China. And Swamy has also expressed disappointment at his advice not being considered.

It was no different on Thursday when Swamy tweeted on the issue of postponing the NEET and JEE due to the COVID-19 situation. Swamy has been a vocal supporter of the demand for postponing the NEET and JEE and had called for the examinations to be held after Diwali.

Earlier this week, Swamy had warned that going ahead with the NEET and JEE could have the same electoral consequences for Modi that the forcible sterilisation programme (Nasbandi) had for Indira Gandhi during the Emergency.

Swamy tweeted on Thursday Modi got "bad" advice and had not consulted him despite him being a professor at Harvard and IIT Delhi. "PMs not being accomplished academics have to rely on advisers. Modi has got bad advice. He did not consult me though I have been a Professor for 50 years at Harvard and IIT/Delhi," Swamy tweeted. In the tweet, Swamy tagged a Twitter handle that had been demanding postponement of the NEET and JEE.

On Wednesday, Swamy had warned that holding the NEET and JEE on schedule in September would favour “rich” students living in urban areas. "Does government realise holding NEET/JEE exams at this juncture favours the children of rich parents in major cities? In the last 5 months the poor and lower middle class children have had no access to internet or ability to go to libraries or collective study. PM can empathise!," Swamy tweeted.

Swamy had previously accused the ministry of education of being “obstinate” on the issue of holding the NEET and JEE. He had tweeted on Tuesday, “With so many State Governments calling for postponement of NEET/JEE examination, and even Allen Coaching also, why the Ministry of Education being so obstinate ? PM Modi must take a call and order the postponement—now.”
