RTI activist Saket Gokhale, who recently claimed that an advertising and social media company owned by a BJP office bearer was hired by Maharashtra's Chief Electoral Officer to issue election-related online ads during the 2019 assembly polls, has invited applications from like-minded people to join his fight.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "I'm now ready to have 4-5 people onboard who are diligently able to dedicate themselves to this fight."

He listed out the criteria for joining his "battle." The first one is: "A commitment and desire to fight the BJP with all your might and strength is a must. That's a pre-requsite."

The candidates should also have: "Impeccable research skills, investigative skills and a nose for the smallest details."

"Knowledge of basic law, the Constitution, and the ability to read bare acts and case precedents and ability to draft petitions.

"Ability to closely follow the news cycle and spot issues of public interest and transparency."

"Readiness to diligently contribute 20-25 hours a week for this work."

"Great outreach skills to reach out civil society activists, media, and public servants for collaboration."

"Excellent video and communication skills to produce and create amateur video content about the issues/cases we handle."

He asked people who "fit ANY of the six criteria," to e-mail him.

When a user asked if it was a paid job or voluntary service, he clarified that it is a paid job, and added that "Though probably not at the level of what a corporate would pay. No one can fight on an empty stomach & people’s bills need to be paid."

Recently, Gokhale had sought urgent assistance from police and Maharashtra home minister and shared a video showing some persons gathered outside his residential building and chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. They were protesting against Gokhale for approaching court over the August 5 Ram temple "Bhoomi Pujan" ceremony.

Last weeek, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a plea filed by Gokhale for stopping the August 5 "Bhoomi Pujan" ceremony for laying down the foundation stone for building a Ram temple in Ayodhya. Gokhale contended that the ceremony would breach the central government's anti-COVID-19 protocol.
