Dosa and sambar, two eggs and oranges, a litre of water and a newspaper—that's the breakfast tray of coronavirus patients in isolation at the Government Medical College Hospital near Kochi. The Kerala government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the well-being of coronavirus patients in its care.

The breakfast, served at 7:30am, includes dosa, sambar, two eggs, two oranges, tea and a bottle of water. This is followed by fruit juice at 10:30am. The lunch served at 12:00 noon includes two chappathi, rice, fish fry, thoran (sauteed vegetables), curry, curd and another litre of water. The patients are served tea and snacks (biscuits/banana fry/vada) at 3:30pm, followed by dinner 7 pm comprising appam, vegetable stew and two bananas.

"A separate menu has been prepared for the 15 Indian patients—all Keralites—and the two UK nationals," PTI report said citing Dr Ganesh Mohan, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital at Kalamassery.

For the foreign patients under isolation, the breakfast includes a bowl of soup, fruits and two boiled eggs, followed by pineapple juice at 11am. The lunch menu consists of toast bread, cheese and fruits. The foreign nationals are served pineapple juice at 11 am and toast cheese (if needed) and fruits for lunch at 12 noon. The dinner includes toasted bread, scrambled eggs and fruits.

In addition, milk will be served for the children as per requirement.

The rich menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to supply of books are among the various steps taken to provide comfort factor to 17 coronavirus suspect patients isolated at the hospital.

The food has been arranged from the medical students hostel mess, Dr Mohan told the news agency. All patients are stable, he added.

Kerala has recorded 24 cases including two foreign nationals so far. The number also includes three patients who were discharged last month after they recovered from the contagious infection with flu-like symptoms.
