Even as the Congress party is struggling to save its government in Madhya Pradesh which is on the brink of collapse after the resignation of Jyotiraditya Scindia, senior party leader Salman Khurshid on Wednesday said the young politician should have shown a little more patience.
“After getting much respect from the party, Scindia should have a little patience. It is not the first time when the party is in bad times, people leave the sinking ship, friends leave in bad times,” Khurshid told ANI.
He said Scindia is unlikely to get the same respect and recognistion in the BJP.
“He should have informed us about the party's failures. I do not think he will receive the same respect and recognition in the Bharatiya Janata Party,” the senior Congress leader told the news agency.
Khurshid exuded confidence that the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh will tide over the ongoing crisis.
Scindia, who had not been on good terms with the Congress leadership for quite sometime, quit the party on Tuesday following his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On Wednesday, he joined the BJP in the presence of party president J.P. Nadda.
According to sources, the BJP is likely to name him as one of its candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh and is also confident of forming the government in the state with his help as 22 MLAs including Scindia's supporters have resigned from the state assembly reducing the Kamal Nath government to a minority.
