Pushpam Priya Choudhary, a woman based in United Kingdom's London, has declared herself Bihar's chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming assembly polls, floating a new political outfit, ANI reported. She is the daughter of former Janata Dal United (JDU) MLC Vinod Chaudhary. According to ANI, Choudhary hails from Bihar's Darbhanga, lives in London and announced her candidacy in a full-page advertisement which appeared in several Hindi and English newspapers in Bihar on Sunday.

In the advertisements, Choudhary promises development for the populace in Bihar and asks people to vote against the establishment. "Bihar needs pace, Bihar needs wings, Bihar needs change. Because Bihar deserves better and better is possible. Reject bullshit politics, join Plurals to make Bihar run and fly in 2020," a Twitter account purportedly belonging to Choudhary wrote.
According to her website, she has a Masters in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex and a Masters in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Choudhary writes: "The world is progressing very rapidly, yet, Bihar continues to be the least developed region in the world. We are still at the bottom in the country too. Moreover, it is not about the rank that we hold but about what that rank represents. Poverty, malnourishment, illiteracy, unemployment and all other development indices that require urgent policy action. These parameters lead to fatalities every day in Bihar."
According to reports, she has floated a political party named 'President of Plurals', projecting herself as the chief ministerial candidate. Bihar is currently ruled by a JDU-BJP-LJP coalition, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Bihar elections will be held later this year.
The polls will be held at a time when It will be vital for the BJP to retain the state, amid the tug of war that has been going on between the alliance partners despite repeated assurances by Shah that elections in the state will be held "under the leadership of Nitish Kumar". Then, there are fissures over CAA and NRC which could prove to be a spoilsport.
