Taking the fight to the rival camp in the Assembly elections in Delhi, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has asked its volunteers to make a special effort to reach out to the BJP supporters and convince them to vote for Arvind Kejriwal's party.

In the last three days of the campaign for the February 8 election, in each of the 70 Assembly constituencies, 5000 AAP volunteers will individually reach out to three BJP voters each and convince them to vote for the AAP, Rajya Sabha MP and election in-charge for Delhi Sanjay Singh said on Monday.

“This is how the AAP will reach out to 15,000 BJP voters from every constituency across Delhi,” Singh said.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has, in his election speeches, been claiming that in view of the benefits being given to the people of Delhi by his government, including subsidised electricity and water as also free travel for women in public transport, even the BJP and Congress supporters are expected to vote for the AAP.

Singh said all the frontal organisations of the AAP will hold a total of 15,000 meetings across the 70 constituencies of Delhi in the last three days before the election. The slogan for this phase of campaign is Ache Honge Paanch Saal, Dilli Me To Kejriwal (The next five years will be good; only Kejriwal for Delhi), he said.

The frontal cells that deal with different sections, such as Purvanchalis, women, youth, SC/ST communities, minorities etc will hold ten meetings each per day over the next three days.

The AAP, Singh said, will demand from the Election Commission a ban on campaign by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders for their allegedly provocative speeches as also registration of FIR and arrest of those leaders.

“When the campaign for Delhi elections is nearing an end and the path for a comprehensive victory by AAP is becoming very clear, the BJP is completely baffled at the prospect of a certain defeat and all their leaders have resorted to making objectionable statements out of desperation,” Singh said.

Meanwhile, he informed that the AAP will release its manifesto for the Assembly elections on Tuesday.
