The Union home ministry is expected to complete the process of setting up the Ram Mandir trust in the next two months. The MHA has been vested with the powers to set up the trust that will monitor the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“Discussions are going on in this regards and we will be consulting various stakeholders,” said a government official.

The home ministry has been studying the legalities of the Supreme Court judgment in the Ayodhya dispute case along with the law ministry.

The SC put an end to the legal battle over the disputed site in Ayodhya after it ruled in favour of Ram Lalla and said the entire disputed land will be handed over to a trust formed by the government which will monitor the construction of a Ram temple at the site.

Meanwhile, addressing concerns over the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of its special status, the government sources said that the internet lockdown in the region is gradually being lifted. The clampdown had come months ago when Article 370 was abrogated by the central government and the state of J&K was bifurcated into twin Union territories of J&K and Ladakh. The move resulted in tension in the state raising possibilities of a law and order problem.

“The Internet is being restored in the UT and the law and order situation is being reviewed regularly,” said an official.
