Youth Congress and KSU activists gathered at the Aluva government guest house in Kochi on Monday and waved black flags at Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla as part of their protest over the amended Citizenship Act.

As per reports, the protesters, led by Youth Congress leader P.B. Suneer, showed black flags and shouted slogans before the Manipur governor's motorcade as Heptulla, who was heading to Lakshadweep, was leaving the guest house for the Cochin International Airport.

The Youth Congress activists continued to shout slogans against the Citizenship Act and the Bharatiya Janta Party-led Central government. The governor's motorcade was blocked for about 10 minutes before the police arrested the protesters and removed them from the guest house premises, reports said.

Heptullah has said that the Manipur government is not opposing the Citizenship Act and there is no problem in the state over the amended Act, adding that the people of Manipur have also not opposed it. She did not elaborate her statement nor give her opinion about it.
