Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has raised eyebrows after he sought a contribution of Rs 11 and a 'stone' from each family to build a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. The Supreme Court, with its November 9 verdict, had cleared the way for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site.

Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand's Bagodar, Adityanath said the 500-year-old dispute could be resolved through the efforts made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Very soon, a grand Ram temple will be constructed in Ayodhya. Every family should contribute Rs 11 and a stone for the Ram temple," the chief minister said.

Launching a scathing attack on the opposition, Adityanath said the Congress, the RJD, the CPI-ML and some other parties did not want solution of the prolonged dispute.

The BJP leader's comments came a day after the Supreme Court dismissed a batch of review petitions filed against its verdict.

A five-judge bench, headed by the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi, had in a unanimous verdict on November 9 decreed the entire 2.77 acre disputed land in favour of deity 'Ram Lalla' and also directed the Centre to allot a five-acre plot to Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque in Ayodhya.
