Unnao: 23-year-old rape victim set ablaze by accused released on bail

A rape victim from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly set ablaze early on Thursday morning by five men, including one who was accused in the crime, police said.

The incident occurred at Sindupur village under Bihar police station area. The victim, with around 70 per cent burns, has been shifted to a government hospital in Lucknow and is in a critical condition, the police said.

The woman has named five persons and three of them, including two men accused of raping her in March, have been arrested, the police said. 

The woman was on her way to a local court for hearing in the rape case that she had filed in March against two men in her village in Unnao. She had accused the duo of raping her as well as filming the act. 

One of the rapists who was arrested following the FIR, however, managed to get bail. The other accused, who was arrested today for raping the woman, was on the run. Cops claim they attached his property and had issued a lookout notices against him, reported NDTV
