Prime Minister Narendra Modi's early morning stroll on the Mamallapuram beach in Tamil Nadu was an eventful one to say the least.

First came a three-minute video on Saturday of Modi 'plogging' on the beach, where he was seen collecting waste. He urged the people to ensure that public places are clean and tidy.

And today, the world saw him in a different avatar—that of a poet. (For those living under a rock, Modi has a collection of poems titled 'A journey: Poems by Narendra Modi' originally published in 2014.)

He took to Twitter to post a “conversation” with the ocean. Modi said, while strolling on the Mamallapuram beach, he got lost in the "conversation".

"This conversation carries the world of my feelings. I am sharing the feeling with you in the form of a poem," he wrote on Twitter in Hindi.

In the eight-paragraph signed poem, Modi describes the ocean's relationship with the sun, the waves, and its pain.

PM Modi was on a two-day trip to Mamallapuram for an informal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two leaders discussed issues ranging from tackling terrorism, trade and ways to renew ties between the two countries.

Apart from plogging and engaging in “conversations” (with the ocean and Xi Jinping), Modi also took time out to take a walk and exercise on the beach, photographs of which were shared on Twitter.

"Refreshing walk and exercises in Mamallapuram, along the scenic coast," he said in the tweet along with the photographs.
