The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved several Secretary-level appointments on Wednesday.
Atanu Chakraborty has been appointed as the new Economic Affairs Secretary while his predecessor Subhash Chandra Garg will be the new Power Secretary.
Chakraborty, a 1985 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, is currently the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary and will be replaced by Anil Kumar Khachi.
Garg will replaces Ajay Kumar Bhalla who will be the next Union Home Secretary. Bhalla was appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Home Ministry and he will take over as the new Union Home Secretary succeeding Rajiv Gauba when he retires on August 31.
Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will join the MHA with immediate effect and continue to function as OSD till Gauba retires for smooth transition of the charges.
Anshu Prakash has been appointed as the new Telecom Secretary and will take charge from August 1.
