Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, who has kept a low profile since his party got a drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls, on Saturday seemed to rediscover some of his pre-election passion as he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rahul spoke about Modi on Saturday during a roadshow in Kalpetta in Wayanad, the constituency in Kerala from where he had won by a record margin. The performance of the Congress-led UDF in Kerala, from where it won 19 of the 20 Lok Sabha seats was one of the few positives in an otherwise miserable election for the party.
Speaking to supporters, Rahul said his doors as the MP for Wayanad were open to everyone. News agency ANI reported Rahul as saying, “ Even though I belong to the Congress party, our doors will be open for every single citizen of Wayanad, regardless of their age, regardless of where they come from, regardless of what ideology they come from.”
Rahul declared the Congress was “fighting poison” at the national level. He alleged, “Narendra Modi uses poison, I'm using a strong word, but Mr Narendra Modi uses poison of hatred to divide this country. He uses anger & hatred to divide the people of this country. He uses lies to win election.”
Continuing his attack on Modi, Rahul claimed Modi “represents the worst sentiments of this country. He represents anger, he represents hatred, he represents insecurity and he represents lies.”
Rahul arrived in Wayanad on Friday.
