Gurugram family attacked by goons over a game of cricket

A person was arrested in the case were members of a family were beaten by goons in Bhondsi area of Gurugram on Thursday. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media and the police had taken immediate action in the incident.

In the video, a group of men can be seen attacking the family's male members with sticks and rods as the women of the house plead with them to stop. Among the attacked were five children with the youngest being just two-years-old. The attack was apparently the result of a an earlier fight over playing cricket in an area on the day of Holi. One of the victims was beaten till he lost consciousness.

Family members said around 25 to 30 people were part of the mob that attacked them. "We were making food for some guests when suddenly, they entered our home. They beat me up with sticks when I tried to stop them. I asked them what has happened. They went upstairs, broke windows & doors &thrashed them brutally," a woman member of the family told reporters.

An FIR has been filed under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 148 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causes hurt), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint.) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
