A woman from Kerala was among the 49 victims killed in a terror attack in New Zealand on Friday. Ancy, a 23-year-old M Tech student in an agricultural university, went to the country a year ago. Her husband, Nazar, escaped unhurt.

Two other Indians were hurt in the attack that targeted two mosques in Christchurch.

At least nine people of Indian origin were missing, Indian high commissioner Sanjeev Kohli tweeted.

Ancy was a native of Kodungallur while her husband is from Madavana near Kochi.

Ahmed Iqbal Jahangeer from Hyderabad and Mehboob Khokar from Ahmedabad have been injured. Jahangeer is a hotelier in Christchurch while Khokar is visiting his son.

The shooter had a license to hold a gun, the authorities found out.

Prime Minister Jacinda Arden said in Wellington that she was mulling changes to the arms act.

The investigators have also found out that one of the people in custody had been in Turkey recently. He must have visited more countries.

Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States have strengthened security for mosques after the revelation. US President Donald Trump said that he offered all support to New Zealand. The United Nations has also condemned the attack. Hundreds of people took part in a prayer meeting for the victims in a mosque in Sidney.
