Jaitley calls Nehru the 'original sinner' after yet another China snub

Union Minister Arun Jaitley blamed Jawaharlal Nehru for the "original mistake" on both China and Kashmir. China had, on Thursday, blocked, for the fourth time, a move to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist. In the aftermath of the Pulwama terrorist attack, three permanent members of Security Council—the US, France and the UK—had moved a resolution to designate Azhar a global terrorist. Except for China, which wields veto power in the Security Council, all other UNSC members were on board with the move before the al-Qaeda (1267) Sanctions Committee.

"The original mistake, both on Kashmir and China, was committed by the same person," Jaitley tweeted.

"Pt. Nehru’s infamous letter to Chief Ministers’ dated August 2, 1955 states “Informally, suggestions have been made by the United States that China should be taken into the United Nations but not in the Security Council, & that India should take her place in the Security Council...We cannot, of course, accept this as it means falling out with China and it would be very unfair for a great country like China not to be in the Security Council [sic].”

"Will the Congress President tell us who the original sinner was?" he wrote.
