The makers of Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 have confirmed the release date of the follow-up to the hit Hindi movie series based on the Mohanlal-starrer directed by Jeethu Joseph. The third entry in the Hindi version, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is indeed scheduled to hit theatres on Oct. 2, 2026.
Sharing the announcement teaser on his social media handle, Devgn wrote, "Drishyam 3 will release on Drishyam Day. The final installment remains. You can see the film in theatres on October 2, 2026."
The teaser comes with a voiceover. In the Drishyam 3 video, Ajay further emphasized this goal: saving his family. The teaser, which also features footage from earlier films, has the actor saying, also from the other two films. In the teaser, he says, "The world calls me many names, but it doesn't matter to me. Because everything that's happened and everything I've done in the last seven years, everything I've seen and shown, has made me understand one thing. In this world, everyone's truth is different. Everyone's right is different. My truth, my right is only my family. Until everyone is exhausted. Until everyone is defeated, I'll stand here as a watchman. As a wall. Because the story isn't over yet. The final part is yet to come."
Aside from Ajay Devgn reprising his role from the first two films, Shriya Saran will return as his wife, while Ishita Dutta plays their daughter. Tabu, too, will return once again as the police officer on the other side of the family.
The announcement teaser was expected to drop earlier, but was pushed due to several reasons. Ever since Drishyam 3 was announced across industries, the producers of its Hindi version were reportedly aiming to release their version first. Initially, they were keen to start the shoot in the early part of 2025, but since the Malayalam version was expected to start only in the latter part of the year, Joseph disagreed. He had also allegedly threatened the Hindi team with legal implications.
The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 is targeting a release date in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, the Hindi version had already announced 2nd October 2026 as its release date, but this was before the Malayalam version had started production.
In an earlier unethical move, the Hindi team had planned to release the official teaser of Drishyam 3 Hindi on the above after 2025, but the plan didn't materialize. Initially, it was rumoured to be a technical delay, but it was later learnt that they were banned from releasing any content of Drishyam 3 without prior permission from Joseph and the Malayalam version's producers, Aashirvad Cinemas.
