UPSC civil services 2019: Registration to start on Feb 19 at upsc.gov.in

The registration for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services preliminary examination will begin on February 19. UPSC aspirants will be able to register online on the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in from Tuesday.

The UPSC civil services exam is conducted to select candidates to fill administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS. UPSC civil services exam consists of three stages—preliminary, mains and final interview. 

The preliminary test comprises of Paper-I and Paper-II, both of which are objective in nature. Paper-I consists of questions from current affairs, science and technology, history, culture, geography, indian polity and environment and ecology. UPSC civil services exam  Paper-I carries a total of 400 marks. However, a candidate has only to qualify with minimum of 33 per cent marks in general studies paper-II.

Here are the important dates to look forward to in 2019 if you are a UPSC aspirant:

1. Date of notification : February 19

2. Last date of application : March 18

3. UPSC civil services preliminary exam : June 2

4. UPSC civil services mains exams : September 20 

Age limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on August 1, 2019. This means they must not be born earlier than August 2, 1986 and not later than August 1, 1997. However, there is age relaxation for reserved category.
