The Unnao rape victim was booked for allegedly forging papers which proved she was a minor, and an FIR has been filed against three people, including her mother and uncle. The case was registered at the Makhi police station, based on a petiton by Haripal Singh, whose wife Shashi and son Shubham have been chargesheeted in the case. Station House Officer (SHO) of Makhi police station Dinesh Mishra told The Indian Express, “In his complaint, Haripal Singh has alleged that the rape victim, her mother and uncle prepared a forged school transfer certificate of the victim using fake signatures and stamp of the principal and Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Rae Bareli district."
A special investigation team (SIT) was earlier constituted to probe the rape of an 18-year-old woman, allegedly by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brothers, in Unnao and the custodial death of the victim's father.
"The SIT will go into the entire gamut of issues involved in the incident," ADG (Law and Order) Anand Kumar told a press conference.
Atul Singh, the brother of the rape-accused BJP MLA, was arrested in Unnao; three others were also arrested with him. The arrests were made on the directions of the UP DGP. Later on, as the case moved from the police to the CBI, Sengar and ten others were chargesheeted in the case.
The victim's father died after being in custody in Unnao, prompting her to charge that he was killed inside the jail at the behest of the lawmaker.
