Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah will pump all their energy in Uttar Pradesh in the coming few months to consolidate the BJP in view of the upcoming general elections. During the 2014 general elections, the BJP coalition had won 73 seats in Uttar Pradesh and had turned the state into an impregnable fortress for the party but the poll results of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and MP have rung an alarm bell of sorts for the party.

To stave off any impending electoral danger, the Modi-Shah duo will give maximum time to Uttar Pradesh in the coming few months in order to strengthen the government and the party.

Party strategists do not want the existing 73-seats to plummet at any cost for which it has kept the target of more than 50 per cent votes in every booth.

For this the BJP plans to take care of its disgruntled workers and woo farmers, youth and the unemployed.

On December 16, the PM will turn up on Sonia Gandhi’s turf, Rae Bareli and will dedicate many projects to the public. After this, he will visit Prayag. This year the BJP will celebrate the grand kumbh mela to garner maximum political mileage before the elections.

The party has also planned visits to the state for both the leaders every month in the run-up to the elections. A comprehensive strategy is being chalked out for the same.

Party State President Mahendra Nath Pandey and General Secretary Sunil Bansal are campaigning in Delhi for this purpose.

Amit Shah will visit UP on December 25, on birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The BJP has geared up all its party units and cells and with their help, it will organize various programmes in coming days at district and division level. These programmes will woo the voters from various strata like dalits, backward class, women, youngsters, farmers and minorities.

The BJP will also explore possibilities of alliance with other parties to counter resurgence of the Congress.
