As per the current trends, the Congress is ahead of the BJP in Rajasthan. The grand old party is leading in 95 seats in Rajasthan, while the ruling BJP was ahead in 81. BSP candidates are leading in four, while others are ahead in 20 seats. A party will require 101 seats to cross the majority in Rajasthan.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot has dedicated the victorious trends emerging from the state assembly elections to the people of Rajasthan and his party president Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi was elevated as the Congress president exactly the same day a year ago. Talking to party workers and the media, Pilot said that the mandate is against the Vasundhara Raje government of Rajasthan.
Incumbent chief minister Vasundhara Raje is leading over her Congress rival Manvendra Singh by over 17,000 votes in Jhalrapatan constituency. Raje has managed to secure 44,295 votes, while Singh has only 26,968 to his credit. Singh, the son of former BJP leader Jaswant Singh, had left the saffron party and joined the Congress in September.
In Tonk, Congress's Pilot has extended a clear lead of 11,517 votes ahead of Yoonus Khan, the only Muslim candidate from the BJP in Rajasthan. As per the latest figures of the Election Commission, Pilot has managed to get 34,771 votes, while Khan has only 23,254.
In Sardarpura, another key constituency where the Congress has fielded former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, the party is leading by 16,552 votes against BJP's Shambhu Singh.
