The arrest of a BSF jawan for allegedly leaking sensitive information to the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) brought about a shocking revelation that the Pakistan spy agency has 'honey-trapped' about 150 youths from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to gather classified information. These youths are targetted through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

The modus operandi came to light during the investigation by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Uttar Pradesh.

According to ATS sources, these youths are being given some monetary incentives for their services. The revelations have come as a shocker for the central investigating agencies.

These youths are asked to give the pictures of important defence installations situated in cantonment and other vital information about the name of the unit deployed, number of personnel etc.

The ATS has gathered enough information about this, said ATS IG Aseem Arun. According to him, the details came to light during their probe after the arrest of the BSF jawan, Achutanand. The ATS has also shared the inputs with the military intelligence.

Arun said initially a person got a friend request on Facebook from one Sonu Kaur, who claimed she is a defence reporter and asked this person to send a few pictures of the cantonment area of Meerut. This became a routine and the person realised that he was being deceived. He informed the military personnel first, who in turn took the help of the Uttar Pradesh ATS. However, the ATS refused to reveal the name and identity of the person.

Arun said the ISI is focusing on youth from small cities and deceiving them for vital information.

He also added that if anyone unknowingly was deceived like this, he should not be sacred and must report the matter to the ATS, who will help them.
