Former VHP leader Pravin Togadia on Wednesday announced a march from Lucknow to Ayodhya on October 21 to gather support for the Ram mandir movement.

Togadia visited Faizabad and Ayodhya on Wednesday and met those connected with the Ram mandir movement.

Addressing a press conference in Faizabad, Togadia said, "Respecting the sacrifices of Hindus for the cause of Ram Janambhoomi, we will move towards Ayodhya from Lucknow on October 21 to build pressure on the Union government to bring a resolution in Parliament for the construction of a Ram mandir. Lakhs of Kar Sevaks will join us."

Togadia, who visited Ayodhya in June, had earlier demanded the Narendra Modi government legislate a law within four months for constructing a Ram mandir at the disputed site.

Togadia was joined by about 200 activists of his newly-formed Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad.

Togadia, who enjoyed 'Z' category security cover till a couple of months ago, was seen without any security on Wednesday.

Togadia was an ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat politics until the latter became chief minister in 2001. Togadia has been a bitter critic of Modi, whom he accused of sidelining him. In April, Togadia resigned from the VHP, ending a decades-long association.

In June, Togadia accused Modi of ignoring the Ram mandir issue and not visiting Ayodhya even when he had time to go to mosques during foreign visits.
