Former president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Pravin Togadia, came down heavily on the Union government for its alleged failure to deliver on the development front.
On the second day of his indefinite hunger strike in Ahmedabad, in support of demands like the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the implementation of a Common Civil Code, Togadia alleged that thousands of children and women were dying as they do not get ration under government schemes.
He also took a dig at the Centre for allegedly failing to provide good and affordable health care system. The former VHP leader claimed that around 60 per cent population could not afford good treatment and over 80 per cent people do not have access to proper medical care.
Togadia promised to make the Hindu Helpline (20266803300) more effective so that Hindus in the country would get help with one phone call. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim that each Indian would get Rs 15 lakh in his bank account, if the whole black money stashed away abroad was brought back, Togadia said that he (Togadia) had not given any such assurance.
He also raked up the issue of GST.
On the second day of the fast, doctors examined Togadia, who is diabetic, and found that his blood sugar level and blood pressure were high. He is also believed to have lost 3kg.
Meanwhile, his son Akash took to Facebook to ask who would come out to work for the Hindu society after seeing his father's condition (read treatment meted out to him). Akash reminded everyone that his father had left home to serve the society.
On the opening day of his fast on Tuesday, Togadia had minced no words in criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also alleged that not constructing Ram Temple was a breach of trust of the Hindus, especially the families of kar sevaks, who lost their lives.
