Building pressure on the Narendra Modi government, the VHP international working president Dr Pravin Togadia accused the government of not doing enough for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He even went to allege that the government has taken a U-turn in the case which may ensure a Babri Masjid at the disputed site.

Togadia said, “Those associated with the Ram temple movement fear that despite the full majority, the BJP government in the last four years, not even an inch of progress has taken place in bringing a law to build Ram temple in Ayodhya. This indicates some strange plans of building Mosque in Ayodhya.”

Explaining his allegation, Togadia said, “With many laws are getting trashed, and many new laws getting passed, then why no law on Ram temple been brought in? The only argument we hear is that the court case is going on. The case was always there in one or the other courts when earlier agitations were planned and done by the entire Sangh Pariwar including the VHP and BJP. At that time no one said about a court case. Was it because of Hindu votes? It is like using Hindus to get into power and then throwing them in the dustbin?”

He said Hindus have waited long enough by now. “During the last 4 years, we tried internally discussing the issue of law in the parliament on Ram temple, but of no avail as all our requests fell on the purposely covered ears. Sadhus went to meet the PM, but no use. Now Hindus all over have realised that it was an election winning ploy to awaken Hindus in the name of Ram temple. It is by now very clear that the movement of Ram temple for the BJP was to fool religious Hindus into voting and then betraying the Hindus.”

Togadia, who has a strained relation with PM Modi said, “Whenever there are elections, this political party uses the word ‘Ram’ in many ways. Postal Stamp on Ram, Ram Circuit, Big Idol of Ram at the banks of Sarayu river, sporadic media debates specifically aimed at getting opposition parties look anti Hindu and thereby as a corollary, this party ‘looks’ Hindu. This is all symbolism and tokenism with no serious intentions to resolve specific Hindu issues as was promised earlier.”
