India's promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has suffered a major injury setback, prompting the BCCI to look for a replacement for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.
It was decided by the board that Suryansh Shedge would replace him for the series. "The men's selection committee has named Suryansh Shedge as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in India's squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England," the BCCI said in a statement.
Nitish reported left quadriceps discomfort after the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20, after which he was assessed and recommended a period of rest. "Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the Ireland series. The MRI has revealed swelling with fiber disruption in the left quadriceps. He has been asked to report to the COE for further assessment," PTI reported.
It is also understood that he will take a minimum of four weeks for recovery and the resting timeline could extend to complete his rehabilitation before he can start his 'Return To Play' protocols.
