Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly has updated her fans about her latest health update, after she sustained injury last May.

"Verdict's in. I do have brain damage from my tbi. Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn't just peri-menopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies. Thank you all for always asking, for always caring, and for your continued prayers," the 46-year-old mentioned in a recent social media post.

She mentioned how she suffered a concussion and that almost every area of her brain is functioning at a decreased capacity. It has been reported that she suffered a traumatic brain injur after she fainted and fell headfirst into a boulder.

What is a concussion?

As per the Cleveland Clinic, a concussion is a head injury that happens when your brain moves or twists inside your skull. Concussions stretch and injure nerves and blood vessels in the brain and cause chemical changes that temporarily makes the brain stop working like it should.

Eventually, the symptoms tend to affect the body, cognitive function, sleep and even on an emotional level.  More alarming is the long-term impact these injuries can have, including chronic headaches, mood changes, and cognitive decline.  Concussions, often overlooked, are a significant health concern that can lead to a decrease in brain function, affecting daily life and long-term health.

“This was maybe the most calm Christmas holiday I had since I had children. So 14 years. That’s a good thing. I am feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day and one more year on this beautiful living planet. That is my concussion update, and thank you all for caring," the Ant-Man actress said in her latest medical update to her followers.
