Ozempic, the much talked about weight loss drug, now has a new side effect, claims some male users. This time it is about their weight reduction, but changes to their penises.
Male ozempic users engaged in a conversation on Reddit on how the weight loss drug did not shrink but bulged another body part. These users talked about how the jab had resulted in a penis enlargement.
“I recently measured myself down there and noticed I gained about one inch,” mentioned a user on the social media platform.
"I recently measured myself down there and noticed I gained about one inch. Now I think people will say it was because of the fat loss. However, at the time I measured myself before (4 years ago), I was thinner. I also pressed during measurement before, and also this time. Has anyone else noticed this change in themselves?" another user posted on Reddit.
Although there has not been enough research done on the correlation between semaglutide and men’s genitalia measurements — the average penis size is continuing to rise, and some experts think Ozempic might actually have something to do with it, mentioned New York Post.
"Men’s penises shorten as they get older (due to) increasing body fat and increasing prostate size drawing the penis back into the body. It is theoretically possible that new drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, which are used to treat diabetes and obesity, respectively and can cause people to lose weight, could also be a factor. As men lose weight, their penises appear larger,” said Dr Richard Viney, a consultant urological surgeon to diabetes.co.uk.
While some users talked about the genital change, some others suggested that the size difference could be attributed to various other reasons like improved blood flow, external conditions like temperature or arousal levels, etc.
