Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to return with the third instalment of his popular "Scam" anthology series, titled "Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga". The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on Sony LIV. Its first-look teaser and promotional material were released on November 2, 2026.

Following the success of "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story" and "Scam 2003: The Telgi Story", the new season will explore the rise and fall of Subrata Roy, the controversial founder of Sahara India Pariwar.

Actor Siddharth Bodke, known for his role in "Drishyam 2", will play Subrata Roy. The supporting cast includes Kritika Singh as Swapna Roy, Moon Banerjee as Chhabi Roy, and Aditya Srivastava. Hansal Mehta will direct and lead the show as its showrunner, working alongside co-director Sumit Purohit. Applause Entertainment and Birla Studios are backing the project.

The series is based on journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s investigative book Sahara: The Untold Story. It will trace how Subrata Roy built a large business empire from humble beginnings in Uttar Pradesh. The story will also examine the financial controversies surrounding Sahara, allegations of unlawful fundraising, and the company's long-running legal battle with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Roy's journey eventually led to his 2014 arrest and a series of legal disputes involving billions of rupees in investor funds. He died in November 2023. The series aims to bring this complex financial story to the screen.

The "Scam" series has become one of the most recognised Indian web series franchises, with each instalment focusing on a major financial scandal.

The first season, "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story", premiered in 2020. It followed stockbroker Harshad Mehta and his role in the 1992 Indian securities scam. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the series received widespread praise for its storytelling and performances. Actor Pratik Gandhi became a household name through his powerful portrayal of Harshad Mehta.

The second instalment, "Scam 2003: The Telgi Story", explored the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, who masterminded a massive counterfeit stamp paper racket estimated at ₹30,000 crore. Gagan Dev Riar played the lead role, while Tushar Hiranandani directed the series. Hansal Mehta served as its showrunner and creative director.
