Priyadarshan's latest release, starring Akshay Kumar, has unfortunately not been able to generate the same numbers as their earlier collaborations, most notably, "Bhooth Bangala", which had given Akshay a much-needed box office resurgence after a long dry spy hell. However, "Haiwaan", which sees Priyadarshan remaking one of his biggest Malayalam hits, "Oppam", continued to struggle at the box office on Day 3, collecting a net ₹1.85 crore in India from 4,374 shows.
"Bhooth Bangla", for example, opened with ₹18.31 crore on its first day alone in 2026. In comparison, the entire "Haiwaan" three-day India net collection is less than half that amount.
As per Sacnilk, the total India gross collection of "Haiwaan" was registered at ₹8.80 crore, while the India net collection came up to ₹7.35 crore after three days. The film also earned ₹0.75 crore from overseas markets on Day 3, taking its overseas gross total to ₹2.75 crore. With these numbers combined, "Haiwaan" has reached a worldwide gross collection of ₹11.55 crore. "Oppam", starring Mohanlal, reportedly grossed more than ₹65 crore worldwide on a modest budget.
The Day 3 figure marks a 26% decline from the previous day, when the film collected ₹2.50 crore net in India. Its three-day opening weekend total of ₹7.35 crore net in India is particularly underwhelming considering the film’s large scale and star-studded cast.
"Haiwaan" has also faced tough competition from the strong theatrical performance of "Mirzapur: The Movie" and the unexpected late success of "Hanuman Ansh". This competition appears to have made it even harder for the film to attract a wider audience. The film is also one of Saif Ali Khan's lowest-opening films, when compared to the successes of his "Vikram Vedha" and "Devara: Part 1".
