Yash-starrer "Toxic" has made a powerful start at the Indian box office, collecting a net ₹101.10 crore on its opening day. The film was screened across 24,579 shows in India and recorded ₹120.75 crore in gross domestic collections. Overseas, "Toxic" added another ₹20 crore in gross revenue, taking its worldwide gross collection to ₹140.75 crore on Day 1, as per box office tracker Sacnilk.
The Hindi market was the biggest contributor to the film’s opening. The Hindi version earned ₹55 crore, followed by Kannada at ₹23.30 crore, Telugu at ₹16 crore, Tamil at ₹5.50 crore and Malayalam at ₹1.30 crore. Hindi alone contributed more than 54% of the film’s total domestic net collection.
Despite its huge opening, "Toxic" did not break Yash’s own record set by "KGF: Chapter 2". The 2022 blockbuster remains ahead with an opening-day gross of ₹165.37 crore. However, "Toxic" has still achieved one of the biggest openings in recent Indian cinema.
In 2026, "Toxic" has secured the second-biggest opening of the year so far, behind "Dhurandhar 2". Its performance is even more impressive when looking at India’s net box office figures. With ₹101.10 crore on Day 1, the film has entered the exclusive ₹100 crore net club and ranks sixth among the biggest opening days in Indian cinema, pushing "Kalki 2898 AD" down the list.
The film has also created a major milestone in the Hindi market. Its ₹55 crore Hindi net opening has surpassed "KGF: Chapter 2", which opened to ₹53.95 crore in Hindi. This gives "Toxic" the second-highest Hindi opening for a South Indian film, behind Allu Arjun’s "Pushpa 2: The Rule".
What makes the achievement particularly notable is that "Toxic" is a standalone film, unlike "KGF: Chapter 2" and "Pushpa 2", which benefited from strong franchise anticipation. Its massive Hindi opening shows that Yash continues to have a strong following across North India, even after a three-year gap between major releases.
It remains to be seen whether "Toxic" will be able to hold strong this extended weekend since the reviews have been largely negative to mixed.
