Ravi Teja’s "Irumudi" has made a strong start at the box office, earning ₹24.20 crore worldwide on its opening day. The film recorded a domestic net collection of ₹14.80 crore from 2,673 shows, while its India gross stood at ₹17.20 crore. The overseas market added another ₹7 crore, taking the worldwide gross to ₹24.20 crore, as per box office tracker Sacnilk.
The Telugu version was the main contributor to the film’s domestic performance, recording an impressive 79% overall theatre occupancy and contributing ₹14.78 crore to the India net collection.
With this opening, "Irumudi" has set a new career high for Ravi Teja among his solo films. The only film above it in his filmography is "Waltair Veerayya", the multi-starrer in which he shared the screen with Chiranjeevi.
"Irumudi" has also comfortably beaten the opening-day figures of Ravi Teja’s earlier solo successes. "Dhamaka" opened at around ₹10 crore, while "Krack" earned approximately ₹10.50 crore on its first day. The new film has more than doubled both figures.
The strong opening also marks an important comeback for Ravi Teja after a difficult period at the box office, with films such as "Tiger Nageswara Rao" and "Mr Bachchan" failing to meet expectations. Its overseas performance has been particularly encouraging, with the international market contributing ₹7 crore on day one.
The film is written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, who has handled its story, screenplay and dialogues. This is a noticeable shift from his earlier romance and family dramas, including "Ninnu Kori", "Majili" and "Kushi", as he moves into a more rugged and emotional action style.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, "Irumudi" features music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Vishnu Sharma and editing by Prawin Pudi.
