"Babita Singh Reporting", an upcoming Hindi investigative crime drama starring Nimisha Sajayan and Barun Sobti, will premiere globally on Prime Video on August 28, 2026.

The film follows A.S.I. Babita, fondly known as “Baby,” a suspended police officer who is more used to pleasing people than standing up for herself. Her life changes when a childhood friend is murdered. Forced to confront the case, Babita begins searching for the truth while unearthing a web of dark secrets during her first visit to her in-laws.

Anshumaan Pushkar and Sunita Rajwar appear in supporting roles. The film is directed by Ambiecka Pandit and written by Amita Vyas. Sudip Sharma, known for acclaimed thrillers such as "Paatal Lok" and "Kohrra", serves as executive producer. Film Squad Productions, in association with Act Three, is producing the feature.

In an official statement, Sharma said, “The movie unfolds around a crime, but at its heart, it is also about the personal journey of a woman who has always adjusted, sought validation from others, and stayed in the background of her own life.”

Sajayan, widely praised for her powerful performances in Malayalam ("The Great Indian Kitchen", "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum") and Tamil cinema ("Chithha", "Jigarthanda Double X"), has also been steadily expanding her work in Hindi. She starred in "Dabba Cartel" (2025), a Netflix crime-comedy featuring Shabana Azmi and Jyothika. She also appeared in the ZEE5 anthology "Lantrani" (2024), a Hindi satire directed by filmmakers including Gurvinder Singh, Kaushik Ganguly and Bhaskar Hazarika.

Her Hindi-language work also includes "Poacher" (2024), an acclaimed crime series on Prime Video, in which she played Mala Jayan, a determined forest officer fighting illegal ivory poaching.

"Babita Singh Reporting" was announced on March 19, 2026, at Prime Video’s #PrimeVideoPresents slate event. The platform unveiled the film’s title, first-look teaser and plot details on the same day. The new film promises a tense investigation led by a police officer confronting both a murder and her own complicated world.
