Arjun Sarja's latest movie "Blast" had a slight but natural drop in total collection on Day 7, earning around Rs 2.75 crore in net, registering a 20.3% drop compared to Day 6's Rs 3.45 crore net. It has now grossed Rs 27.29 crore in India and netted Rs 23.75 crore so far.
Combined with Rs 7.30 crore overseas figures, the cumulative worldwide collection stands at Rs 34.59 crore at the moment.
The 20% drop is not a big concern, as it's already a hit when compared to its estimated Rs 18 crore budget, meaning it has already become a profitable venture. The figure drop is typical for most commercial films, which see a slight decline in collections after a week-long theatrical run. Unlike a 40% to 50% drop, a 20.3% indicates that the movie is doing steady, organic business. Major action or event films typically experience steep declines if driven purely by opening-day hype.
"Blast", on the other hand, is holding its ground across 2,544 shows, driven by strong word of mouth, with comparatively minimal negative feedback. Since the film did not experience a mid-week crash, theatre owners are highly likely to retain its show count going into its second weekend rather than replacing it with newer releases.
Interestingly, Kerala is the second-strongest-performing territory, where it did impressive business. The success is attributed to relatable family-oriented emotions and cathartic violence, which drew comparisons to Malayalam home invasion thrillers such as "RDX" and "Drishyam". As per the box office figures tracked by Sacnilk, the total Kerala gross collection for "Blast" stands at Rs 6.36 crore after its first seven days.
It remains to be seen how "Blast" and the other Tamil Nadu box office hit, "Karuppu" (starring Suriya), will hold up with the release of Ram Charan's "Peddi" today (June 4, 2026).
